Galena students perform and sing
Music programs for Galena students are offered through the music classes at the Galena Interior Learning Academy.
GILA resident advisors Karrie Pavish-Anderson and Ted Roach offer students a variety of afterschool classes
with instruction for orchestral and popular instruments, ranging from the violin and piano to the electric guitar and drums.
Resident advisor Patti Crow offers students the chance to take part in choral singing.
Student musicians have performed at the annual Yukon Jamboree, student assemblies, and during the annual music presentation
at the GILA auditorium. Last year, the student heavy metal band Frostbite sponsored The Headbanger's Ball at the
SHS gym and put on the outdoor concert Rockzilla at the end of the school year. The highlight of the year is the annual Riff@nhook Festival, where students ranging in age from preschoool to high school seniors show off their musical talent to the community.
