My name is Maria Riedel, and this is my second year at Sidney C. Huntington School as the K-12 School Counselor.  I graduated with my MS in Counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and my BA in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.  Though I completed my college and graduate studies in Wisconsin, I grew up as an Alaskan girl.  I was raised on the Kenai Peninsula and graduated from Soldotna high school. Alaska has always been my first love and was excited to return when the opportunity to work in Galena came about. 

My role here at SHS includes a number of different duties such as leading classroom counseling activities for K-8 students, conducting individual counseling, coordinating PSAT and SAT testing for 9-12 GCSD students, providing academic counseling and assistance in post-secondary planning. 

I am eager to work with all students and parents to ensure continued academic and personal-social growth, and am excited for another fun year here in Galena.  Go Hawks!
